KSSR (Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah) is Malaysia's national primary curriculum, from Year 1 to Year 6 (about ages 7 to 12), taught in national schools (SK) and in Chinese and Tamil vernacular schools (SJKC and SJKT). UPSR was abolished in 2021: pupils are now assessed in school, with an end-of-year test (UASA) set by each school.

From 2026, Year 4 pupils also sit the new Learning Matrix (Matriks Pembelajaran) papers in Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics and Science, plus Chinese or Tamil in vernacular schools. A new national curriculum starts with Year 1 in 2027. Tuition at this age is about strong foundations — reading, writing, Bahasa Melayu, English and Mathematics — in short, small-group lessons.

Is there still a UPSR exam?

No. UPSR was abolished in 2021. Pupils are assessed in school through classroom assessment (PBD) and the end-of-year UASA test, and Year 4 pupils sit the Learning Matrix papers from 2026, which the examinations board says do not replace UPSR.

Is online tuition suitable for primary school children?

It can be, especially from Year 3 or 4, in short lessons with a small group and a parent nearby for younger children. A trial lesson shows whether your child can focus online.

How do online KSSR classes work on BreviLearn?

Each class is taught live by its tutor in BreviLearn's online classroom, with video, a shared whiteboard and chat. Homework, notes and progress stay with the class, so parents can follow along.

Can my child try a KSSR class before enrolling?

Yes. This class offers a trial lesson, so your child can meet the tutor before you enrol.

How much does KSSR tuition cost?

Each tutor sets a monthly fee for their class. Sign up for free to see fees and book a trial.
