Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics (0606) is taken in Year 10 and Year 11 by students who are strong at mathematics, often alongside IGCSE Mathematics (0580). It is examined in June and November with two papers of 2 hours and 80 marks each: Paper 1 without a calculator and Paper 2 with one. Only grades A* to E are awarded.

Since 2025 the syllabus includes coordinate geometry of the circle, treats indices and surds as assumed knowledge, and gives more marks for working. Its fourteen topics run from functions, quadratics and logarithms to trigonometry, vectors and calculus — the ground A-Level Mathematics builds on. Our IGCSE Add Maths 0606 guide explains the papers and how to prepare.

Is IGCSE Add Maths harder than IGCSE Maths?

It is a separate, more advanced subject rather than a harder tier. It goes further into algebra, functions, trigonometry and calculus, and only grades A* to E are available, so it suits students already comfortable with Extended IGCSE Mathematics.

Can you use a calculator in IGCSE Add Maths?

Only in Paper 2. Since 2025, Paper 1 is non-calculator. Both papers are 2 hours long and worth 80 marks each.
