I provide interactive and personalised Economics lessons designed to help students understand concepts clearly and apply them confidently in Cambridge examinations. Students will develop essential examination techniques, including identifying command words in structured questions, understanding mark schemes, avoiding common mistakes, and learning from examiner feedback and comments. Lessons are personalised according to each student’s strengths, weaknesses, learning progress and examination goals. My teaching approach is highly interactive. Students practise through multiple-choice quizzes for conceptual understanding, structured question quizzes for application, rank-order quizzes for cause-and-effect analysis, comic-based quizzes for visual memorisation, and labelled diagram quizzes for graph interpretation and economic explanations. I guide students through each question step by step, but I first allow them to attempt the question independently. After their attempt, I explain the correct answer and discuss why the other options are incorrect. This helps students develop stronger economic reasoning, examination technique and confidence, rather than simply memorising answers. Students also receive lesson recordings and learning materials after class, together with homework and assignment guidance. I provide regular progress reports and teacher feedback so parents can clearly understand their child’s development. I also have experience supporting an underperforming student in improving from an ungraded level to Grade C in school examinations.

Cambridge IGCSE Economics (0455) covers six topics: the basic economic problem, the allocation of resources, microeconomic decision-makers, government and the macroeconomy, economic development, and international trade and globalisation. It is examined in June and November and graded A* to G, with a multiple-choice paper worth 30% and a structured paper worth 70%.

A revised syllabus starts with the 2027 exams. It adds sustainability throughout, monopoly as a market failure, minimum wage and cost diagrams and the causes of recession, drops topics such as trade unions and deflation, and puts more weight on analysis. Students sitting in 2027 or later should revise from the new syllabus — see our IGCSE Economics 0455 guide.

Is IGCSE Economics changing in 2027?

Yes. From the 2027 exams, Paper 1 has 40 multiple-choice questions in 1 hour and Paper 2 is 2 hours for 80 marks, with a compulsory question on a real economic situation. Some topics are added and others removed.

Paper 1 is 30 multiple-choice questions in 45 minutes (30%). Paper 2 is 2 hours 15 minutes for 90 marks (70%): one compulsory question on source material and three of four structured questions.
